Bad Sunday for Belgian Beers

Wow, this weekend was not too good for trying out some new beers.  The first go was Brother Theolonius.  While shopping at Bevmo (favorite spot for beer and wine), I saw the Brother Theolonis bottle. I read the description, "Like a Belgian “Dark Strong Ale”, the beer is rich and robust with an ABV of 9.3%."  I thought this might be like one of my other dark strong ale favorites, Grimbergen.  Boy, was I disappointed...this beer just did not taste that great, and the taste of alcohol was strong.  I will not be trying this one again.

The one redeeming quality about this beer was When you buy Brother Thelonious Belgian Style Abbey Ale you also help to support the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz whose mission is to offer the world's most promising young musicians college level training by America's jazz masters and to present public school-based jazz education programs for young people around the world.  All of these programs are offered free of charge to the students and schools.

To make up for it, my Fiance's Dad (the Pre-Dad-In-Law) brought out a Cuvee Angelique Belgian Beer.  The words to describe it are...IT SUCKED...I hate to pour out a beer, but everybody agreed, it was horrible, and so we threw it out...bummer, on the beers...Hopefully I'll have some new ones to recommend next time...
